Hi Alex, Thanks for sharing the review of your portfolio !! Would it be possible to share the rationale behind not having any exposure to REITS, Utilities ,Energy stocks and Industrials ?

Balaji - Good to hear from you my friend :) I would happily own a company in any of those sectors if I felt that they were good investments (an example would be UNP, which I've owned in the past). Generally speaking, those are tougher industries for me to get my arms around (in terms of the long-term sustainable competitive advantages), but I'll keep learning to see if we can change that. Thanks for reaching out.

Hey Alex,

Would you be willing to share what you invest in within your 401K, even if just a general note (ie "index funds")? I'm trying to decide how to structure my different brokerage accounts and it would be super helpful to know how you approach your retirement account.

Thanks so much!

Hi Nick,

I only started contributing to a 401k a few years ago, so I set 100% of the allocation to an International index fund. Those assets will be rolled over to my IRA in the near future, so I'll have some decision-making to do at that time. Hope that helps!

Really helpful, thanks Alex. I've been considering just going with the SPY in my IRA, per the buff-dawg's recco. But I'm also really intrigued by a mutual fund run by the IntrinsicInvesting.com guys ($ENSBX). There's just something about knowing the companies I'm investing in are being specifically chosen/researched/monitored that makes me more excited than a market cap-weighted index (feels worth the 1% fee). It's benchmarked against the SPY and they've seen moderate success in beating it since inception in 2015, and it doesn't feel like a large increase in risk based on the portfolio construction.

Might end up going 50/50 between the two, to "lower risk" slightly. We shall see. Anyways, thanks again!
