As noted when the TSOH Investment Research service launched back in April 2021, I’m in my early 30’s and plan on being a net saver for the next 20+ years (18 months later, I’m dangerously close to having to replace that with mid-30’s). I’m currently at a point in my life where, periodically, I’ll accumulate some excess funds that can be invested. (As a reminder, the portfolio allocation and returns that I disclose to subscribers accounts for everything to my name outside of a checking account for everyday expenses.) The timing of these periodic deposits is largely sporadic, but needless to say a difficult market environment provides some added incentive to go digging through the couch cushions for loose change. I’ve reached the point where I can make a meaningful deposit into my investment account (~10% of its current value felt like a reasonable cut-off point), so that’s what I did earlier this week; in this post, I’ll lay out how those funds will be invested.
I disclosed an updated portfolio allocation to subscribers on Monday in the Q3 2022 Portfolio Update. The portfolio allocation shown below (based on today’s close) includes the cash balances that were added earlier this week.
